I have been lax.

There has been a dearth of posts - I've been busy! Sheesh. I had visitors in the form of my mom and stepdad last weekend. In recent news, I got my son a haircut... if you have seen him recently (and chances are good you have not) he had an amazingly shaggy head of hair. I have been wanting to cut that mop for months, but he insisted on having it long. He was recently mistaken for a girl on several occasions, so I saw an opportunity and seized it. My son now has a nice short respectable young man's haircut - buzzed on the sides and just a few inches long on the top. To make it cool, I give him a little fauxhawk in the mornings. So awesome!

My other big plan is to experiment with soup making this weekend. Potato Leek and Brocoli Cheese. Not all together; two different soups. I need a new game to dive into or something. Cooking in my spare time is making me tubby.

Phew!

This has been a busy break. I have been obsessing over our new home theater setup, with the new HDTV and cable and the Tivo and everything else... but after a whole lot of work yesterday, I got everything working properly. I managed to do what my exceedingly geeky and tech-savvy friend could not. I am reveling in the moment.

My step-mother is being held over a few extra days in the heart clinic while they run more tests... right now, I'm just hoping they really do release her tomorrow so we can have Christmas together like we planned. My poor Dad is worried, and he called me to send me up to their place and feed their cat who hates everyone but him. this should be fun. Hopefully she'll eat, even if it's me who puts out the food. She really is a spiteful little bitch of a cat.

On the bright side, it finally snowed here, so it finally feels like Christmas. I'm a true northern girl, and the holidays just aren't the holidays without snow on the ground. I am truly thrilled to see the snow, and there's more on the way today, which excites me even more - Mother Nature, please hold off until I get back from my 80 mile trip, and then you can drop all the snow you want, okay?

So, that's my holiday vacation so far in a nutshell. Who knows what else could happen...

We're not sleeping at the wheel

Brodie is coming home today!! I'm so happy. 2 weeks without my little man is 2 weeks too long. He returns to me a bike-riding, swimming-lesson taking, bass-catching man of the world. I've been told he'll look bigger. God forbid that he actually should be... 7 and 1/2 and already he's up to my collarbone. Yes, I am that short. I am doomed... I need taller heels. His aunt and uncle are bringing him home and staying with us for a few days. Good times should be had by all. I hope the three day weekend treats everyone well. Consume many drinks in honor of your own hard labor, if you do any.

Today is bee-yoo-ti-ful outside. I am full of good cheer. I have tons of not-very-good-for-me snacks, I have hours of tivo to amuse myself with (Wonder Showzen!), I have a pile of books waiting to be read... life is good.

My dad is moving up here by May 1st. I can't wait until he's here. It's a dream come true for me. Wait until you move away from your family for a few years, and you'll see what I mean, if you don't know what it's like already.
